Some people care for their teeth but still end up with dentures when they are older. It could be genetics, or it could be something entirely different.

If it is genetics, there are no escaping getting dentures. If your grandparents had them and your parents have them, you will carry on the legacy of wearing dentures once you are older.

Since you now have dentures, are you experiencing pain in them? Sometimes they will hurt your mouth and gums. Here are the most common causes of painful dentures. Do not forget to contact us for more information on the causes of painful dentures.

Poor Fitting Dentures

Maybe they do not fit properly. If this is the cause of the pain they are giving you, you will need to contact us so we can fix and fit them to your mouth properly.

Pressure Points
Are your dentures pressing against the pressure points in your mouth? If this is the case, you will need to get them fitted better. Although they are hitting your pressure points, this goes back to not fitting correctly.

If your dentures are pressing against your pressure points, they will cause pain and swelling of the gums which can cause even more pain for you. They are also doing this because you may be chewing or biting hard. We can help you with this problem.

If your bones and gums are shrinking, this is called resorption. This is another thing that goes back to not fitting correctly. If the dentures are not fitting right, they will cause resorption. If this happens, see us and we will fix it for you.

Contacting us will get things straightened out for you if your dentures are causing so much pain that you cannot wear them anymore. You will need to come in and get them fitted better. Once you do this, things will go back to normal for you and the pain will go away.
