Making Sure You Care for Your Dentures the Right Way Helps Them Last

Dentures Drone Prosthodontics IN 46383If you live with dentures, you very well know the inconvenience of keeping it clean especially after eating a meal. The fact that food particles can get into the spaces can be a big problem when left unwashed because they can cause bad breath.

Keeping your dentures clean will not only help you have a fresher breath, but will also make them last for a long time. Making sure they are always in good condition will give you a confident, beautiful smile all the time.

Remove Your Dentures at Night and Soak Them In a Warm Water Solution

Giving your dentures a break will give the tissues in your mouth a rest from using them all day. Wearing dentures while you sleep will put pressure on the gums, which leads to sores. It can also be the cause of your denture not fitting well because of an inflamed gum line leading to infections.

Making sure to take off your dentures every night also helps to keep them clean. Soaking them in a warm water solution can remove plaque buildup. If you do not have a denture cleanser, a half vinegar and water solution does the trick or simply soaking them in warm water will do if your dentures have metal clasps.

Brush and Clean Your Dentures Every day, But Do Not Use Toothpaste

Like your natural set of pearly whites, brushing your dentures daily will help prevent plaque buildup. It is also important to know that brushing them with toothpaste will cause abrasions which create miniscule scratches. This can be a haven for bacteria and plaque which can cause severe dental problems in the long run.

If you want your dentures to last long, it is similar to keeping your natural teeth clean. Taking care of your dentures when and when not wearing them will not only give you a great smile, but will also make them last longer.
